Boys and Girls Rites of Passage Workshop Series

For youth ages 10-16, this workshop series meets Saturdays through Dec. 13 and costs $42 total. Participants learn to become responsible, caring adults, independent thinkers and outstanding citizens. This mentoring program will help young people cope with the barriers they face in everyday life — school, home and community. This 13-week program will help develop mental power, social relationships, consciousness and identity, based on the seven principals of KWANZAA — Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work, Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose and Faith. Community elders are encouraged to support the youth as they prepare for their community “crossing over” ceremony. Register here. There are no workshops Nov. 29. Thecommunity is invited to witness the crossing over ceremony upon completion ofthe Rites of Passage workshops, scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 26, during theKWANZAA celebration at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre at 951 W. Lake MeadBlvd.
